Lathrop’s rich history dates back to the 1860s, when it was established as a key stop along the Central Pacific Railroad. Named after Lathrop Josiah Tracy, the son-in-law of railroad tycoon Leland Stanford, the city played an essential role in the early transportation and commerce of California.
Over the decades, Lathrop grew from a quiet agricultural town into a bustling community. By the time of its official incorporation on July 1, 1989, Lathrop had already begun its transformation into one of Northern California’s most promising cities.
